Dharampal Satyapal (DS) Group, an Indian multi-diversified conglomerate with food and beverage brands, is to spend INR650m ($11.780m) to establish its new milk-based powdered drink Yomil.

In June 2012, the company entered into powdered beverage segment with Piyoz.

DS Group confectionery and powdered concentrate head Atanu Gangoly told Economic Times that for this year the company has committed INR600m ($10.874m) to INR650m ($11.780m) for the new brand.

"The funds would be utilised on various activities, including machinery and marketing initiatives," Gangoly said

"At an average scale, we are looking at Rs 70-80 crore sales target in the first year."

The company plans to sell the new brand though a channel of eight lakh outlets across the country, Gangoly added.

To be available in four flavors, Yomil just requires addition of water in the concentrate to make a shake.
